According to Jack Curry the Yankees are close to acquiring third baseman Chase Headley:
Chase Headley is about to join the Yankees. Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire him from the Padres.

Nothing is known about the details of any kind of deal just yet, but more information should be out shortly and we'll update you on whether or not things move forward.
For those of you who are worried about what the Yankees would give up to get Headley, there are multiple reports coming out that the prospect would by "mid-level" in nature, so the top guys are likely safe.
According to sources, the return for Headley would be one or two minor leaguers, "not top guys"

Yanks will give up two mid-level guys. So fear not, Gary Sanchez and Luis Severino will still be in the organization.

The Yankees would also likely take on what is left of his $10.5 million 2014 contract, which Curry says is about $4 million.
Jon Heyman is reporting the deal is done:
yanks send depaula, solarte to sd forn healdey, which pays $1M plus in cash
