Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders: W 9-3 vs. Gwinnett Braves
The RailRiders offense broke out last night, led by Tyler Austin hitting a home run that literally traveled out of the park. He also singled and brought in a total of three runs. Gary Sanchez doubled and knocked in three runs and Donovan Solano doubled, walked, and brought in a run. Jose Rosario had two singles, a double, and an RBI, and Pete Kozma knocked in a run of his own. Ben Gamel singled and doubled, Ike Davis and Cesar Puello each walked twice, and Jake Cave also walked. Luis Severino did a good job keeping the Braves to just three runs over 6.2 innings. He struck out three and allowed six hits and a walk. Tyler Webb struck out two in 1.1 innings and Johnny Barbato struck out one batter in an inning of work.
Double-A Trenton Thunder: W 4-0 vs. Reading Fightin Phils
Yesterday was all Trenton as Vicente Campos kept Reading to just three hits and a walk while striking out three in 6.0 innings. Over the next three innings, Tyler Jones and Jonathan Holder struck out five and allowed just two hits. As for the offense, both Michael O`Neill and Dustin Fowler had three hits, stole a base, and drove in a run. Miguel Andujar collected two hits and an RBI, and Kyle Higashioka doubled and drove in a run. Dante Bichette walked twice while Cito Culver walked and stole a base.
High-A Tampa Yankees: L 3-4 vs. Fort Myers Miracle
Despite an impressive outing from Domingo Acevedo, Tampa still lost. The right-hander struck out nine over 6.0 innings, but ended up allowing four runs on six hits and two walks, ultimately dooming the Yankees. Willie Gabay also pitched an inning, striking out two before the rest of the game was rained out. Trey Amburgey doubled and drove in two runs, and Thairo Estrada knocked in a run on a single. Mason Williams and Francisco Diaz singled, and Abiatal Avelino walked before they ran out of time.
Low-A Charleston RiverDogs: W 8-4 vs. Lakewood BlueClaws
The RiverDogs broke out last night, hurting the BlueClaws with 14 hits and 8 runs total. Gosuke Katoh singled and doubled, bringing in two runs, while Hoy Jun Park had two hits and a double, knocking in a run. Jeff Hendrix had a hit, a double, a walk, and an RBI, and Ricardo Ferreira knocked in two runs on two singles. Luis Torrens drove in a run on two hits and a walk, and Mandy Alvarez had a single and RBI. Alexander Palma doubled and Austin Afenir had a hit.
As for the pitching, Daris Vargas allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two in 5.1 innings. In relief, Justin Kamplain struck out three, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. Andrew Schwaab struck out two batters of his own in 1.1 innings.
Short Season-A Staten Island Yankees: L 1-6 vs. Hudson Valley Renegades
Staten Island didn't have much going for them after starting pitcher Kolton Mahoney allowed four runs (only two earned) on eight hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. The bullpen couldn't do much better as David Sosebee allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in 1.1 inning of work. Yancarlos Baez brought in the team's only run of the evening, while Dom Thompson-Williams had a single, a triple, and a stolen base. Dalton Blaser and Angel Aguilar each had a hit and Eduardo Navas and Kendall Coleman had a walk apiece.
Rookie Advanced Pulaski Yankees: L 2-5 vs. Greeneville Astros
This game was a mixed bag for Pulaski before getting rained out after the seventh inning. New draft signing Blake Rutherford impressed by knocking in two runs on a double and a triple. Wilkerman Garcia had a hit and a walk, and Dermis Garcia and Victor Rey each had a hit. Estevan Florial and Manny Argomaniz each walked twice. Zak Wasserman struck out three in 3.0 innings, allowing a run on three hits, but the bullpen wasn't able to hold their lead. Spencer Mahoney gave up two runs on two hits and a walk over 2.1 innings, and Miles Chambers allowed two runs on two hits to finish out the sixth inning.
