SNY | Deesha Thosar: With Manny Machado available in free agency, the Yankees appear to be shopping Miguel Andujar. The Padres are reportedly showing interest in the young third baseman, and Thosar even suggests that they might even be willing to part with top prospect Fernando Tatis, Jr. for Andujar. In my opinion that’s a bit much, but as the Padres are no stranger to doing weird things (I mean, what in the world was that Wil Myers contract?), I won’t blame others for getting their hopes up. Here’s hoping Brian Cashman can use his Jedi mind tricks and get an unbelievable deal for Andujar.

MLB.com | Andrew Simon: For every rising star in a given season, there are players who failed to live up to expectations. Gary Sanchez ensconced himself within this category with his subpar 2018, where he let down fans in both sides of the ball. Despite this, Cashman has reiterated his faith in Sanchez’s ability, and the present author shares his confidence. May 2019 bring a boatload of Kraken dingers and deceased baserunners.

MLB.com: This article features a list of each MLB team’s best win of 2018. Listed as the Yankees’ entry is their 7-5 walk-off victory against the Seattle Mariners in June 20, in which Gary Sanchez hit a game-tying titanic dong and Giancarlo Stanton provided the game-winning blast. The Yankees also found themselves on the short end of the Baltimore Orioles’ best win of 2018, a 6-5 walk-off loss in which Manny Machado hit two game-tying homers and Jonathan Schoop knocked home the winning run with a single. More of the former and less of the latter in 2019, please.
