Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Yankees third baseman Chase Headley has had one of the most brutal starts to the season that one could imagine. Former Yankee great Reggie Jackson has been working with Headley to help him get through his hitting woes. The two have been talking and perhaps yesterday's home run is an indicator that it's been working. Only time will tell. If so, thanks Reggie!

New York Daily News: Mark Feinsand: Speaking of brutal starts to the season, Michael Pineda has quite possibly been the "Chase Headley" of the Yankees' pitching staff. While the Yankees didn't lose much in Jesus Montero, thus far they haven't gained all that much with Pineda. It's still early and it's not impossible for him to turn his season around, but that ship is sailing fast.

LoHud | Chad Jennings: Gary Sanchez, the Yankees star catching prospect, is finally headed to the Bronx according to Scranton Times-Tribune reporter Shane Hennigan. Sanchez has had a great start to the 2016 SWB RailRiders season. With the White Sox beginning the series with a couple of left-handed pitchers, one of them being the undefeated Chris Sale, it makes sense to add some right-handed power to the roster. We'll see how long he stays.

New York Post | Ken Davidoff: Bernie Williams already has a pretty decent resume as a ballplayer. Today, the former Yankee center fielder will earn his bachelor's degree in music at the Manhattan School of Music. In case you need a reminder of Bernie's smooth guitar playing, here his is playing Take Me Out To The Ballgame at Derek Jeter's final game at Fenway in 2014.
