Around the Empire: Yankees news - 9/13/15

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

New York Times | Billy Witz: Yankees' designated runner Rico Noel had Dave Roberts as a mentor when he was with the San Diego Padres. Roberts serves as bench coach for the Padres and worked with Noel each of the last four spring trainings.

Sports Illustrated | Cliff Corcoran: Mark Teixeira's season-ending injury is obviously a big blow for the Yankees', but it shouldn't alter their chances of making the postseason too much.

NJ.com | Ryan Hatch: Luis Severino had his leg wrapped following his Friday start against the Blue Jays, but no one can seem to figure out how he actually got the injury. The Yankees' rookie told the team it happened at home, but also said that he hit himself. The true origin of what they are calling nothing more than a bruise remains a mystery.

Newsday | Mark Herrmann: The Yankees suffered a setback at the hands of the Blue Jays during their doubleheader sweep on Saturday. The chances of the team being able to dust themselves off and win the division seem bleak, but the next 21 days will determine a lot.
