ESPN New York | Wallace Matthews: After acquiring IF Gregorio Petit from the Houston Astros to fill in for the injured Brendan Ryan, the Yankees assigned infielders Rob Refsnyder and Nick Noonan to minor league camp. GM Brian Cashman said he made the move because Refsnyder just is not ready for the bigs yet.

LoHud | Chad Jennings: Manager Joe Girardi says that the backup catcher job is still up for grabs, with the leading candidates being Austin Romine and John Ryan Murphy. Girardi, Romine, and Murphy all comment on the competition. | Bryan Hoch: Carlos Beltran is under the weather, and after missing yesterday's game versus the Pirates, Girardi assesses how much additional time Beltran could miss for the Yanks. | Ryan Hatch: Along with the demotion of Refsnyder and Noonan, the Yankees also sent down relief pitcher Chase Whitley, leaving Esmil Rogers as the lone long relief man. Cashman gives his comments defending this move.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Alex Rodriguez looked good in his second start at first base, looking comfortable and even making some nice scoop plays. But how did A-Rod feel he did in the game?
