Around the Empire: Yankees news - 12/4/15

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

New York Post | George King: The Yankees haven't gotten a lot of interest in their quest to trade Ivan Nova this offseason, but that could all change as the Winter Meetings get underway on Monday.

NJ.com | Ryan Hatch: Luxury tax penalties have hit the Yankees the hardest in all of baseball, unsurprisingly, with the team paying out 75% of total penalties since 2003. New York has been on the hook for $289 million in taxes since the rule was implemented.

LoHud | Chad Jennings: Domingo German was non-tendered by the Yankees this week, opening only one spot on the 40-man roster for potential additions without sacrificing anyone else to the great DFA in the sky. One of the biggest conclusions to draw from the Yankees' decision might be that Austin Romine will get a chance to take John Ryan Murphy's spot as the backup catcher.

New York Daily News | Anthony McCarron: Brian Cashman said in a radio interview on Thursday that he is doing plenty of talking when it comes to potential deals, but he hasn't found anything to his liking beyond the Aaron Hicks trade. Cashman has been busy the last two seasons right before the Winter Meetings begin. Will this year prove to be more of the same?
