The Rays claimed Chase Whitley off waivers; Cubs and Yankees haven't actually talked Castro-Gardner trade; Several Yankees received a vote for the MVP award.

CBS Sports | Mike Axisa: There was a rumor flying around yesterday that the Yankees were in talks with the Cubs about trading Brett Gardner for Starlin Castro, but Jon Heyman shot down the rumor saying there had been no such talks.

NJ.com | Ryan Hatch: They might not have won, but Alex Rodriguez, Brian McCann and Mark Teixeira all received votes for the MVP award.

ESPN New York | Associated Press: The Rays claimed Chase Whitley off of waivers yesterday. He had been on the disabled list since undergoing Tommy John surgery early last season.

MLB.com | Joey Nowak: Alex Rodriguez was one of the three players nominated to win an Esurance MLB Award for "Best Bounceback Player." Chris Davis and Prince Fielder were also nominated, and Fielder won the award.
