Yankees vs. Twins series preview: A different time zone

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees swept the Orioles out of New York on Thursday before boarding a plane and heading to Minnesota for a three-game weekend set against the Twins. There they will get to see a couple old friends in the form of Phil Hughes and Eduardo Nunez while also hopefully continuing their second half success and bolstering their division lead.

Tonight's game features Michael Pineda squaring off against former Yankee Hughes, who is 8-6 with a 4.15 ERA this season. Hughes hasn't quite matched his effectiveness from last season so far in 2015, but the Yankees have also not been a stellar road team this year. Pineda has a 1.64 ERA in two starts against the Twins, but he hasn't faced them since 2011. Big Mike scuffled a bit his last time out, allowing two home runs in Robinson Cano in a loss to the Mariners. It's the only game the Yankees have lost since the All-Star break.

CC Sabathia will be looking to build on some positive results his last couple starts in Saturday's game against Tommy Milone. Milone is 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA on the year, but he was rocked for five earned runs in his last start against the Oakland Athletics. Rounding out the series will be the surging Nathan Eovaldi facing Kyle Gibson on Sunday. Gibson was also roughed up in his last start, surrendering six runs in five innings against the Angels.

Here's tonight's Yankees lineup:
