Yankees vs. Rays Game Preview and Lineups: Warren looks to get Bombers back on track

Adam Warren opens a three game series for the Yankees against division rival Tampa Bay.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees will turn to fifth starter Adam Warren as they look to snap a two game skid on Friday at Tropicana Field. Warren did not pitch badly in his first start of the season, allowing two runs (one earned) over 5.1 innings, but still took the loss against Boston. Tampa will counter with Nathan Karns who is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA in two starts this season.

The Yankees lost their fist three series of the season to division opponents Toronto, Boston, and Baltimore. The Bombers do not want this trend to continue against the Rays, who were expected by many to be the weakest team in the AL East. This is the first time New York will face Tampa Bay under the guidance of new manager and ex-Yankee backup catcher Kevin Cash. Cash took over for Joe Maddon, who won 754 games for the Rays over the previous nine seasons.

The game starts at 7:10 pm and can be seen on YES and MLB Network.
