If the Yankees are going to make a move to bolster their 2019 team, it’ll happen during this series. They may even get a player or two from the opponent right in front of them. The team as constructed, however, still has games to play and victories to take before any of that.
J.A. Happ got roughed up in his last start against Minnesota, part of a chain of terrible starting pitcher performances that the Yankees endured over their recent road trip. Before that he had been decent, but not great, in giving the team several low-scoring outings. The Yankees will want more of the latter from Happ, but yesterday’s off day means the bullpen will be somewhat rested in case they’re called on early.
On the other side of the mound for the Diamondbacks is Taylor Clarke. The rookie has had a rough go of 2019, but delivered his first quality start since April in his last appearance on July 24. Clarke has been victimized by the juiced ball this year, giving up at least one home run in all but two of his 11 starts, so look for the Bombers to take advantage there.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST. You can catch the game live on YES, or stream it on mlb.tv and fubo.tv. You can also listen to the broadcast on WFAN 660/101.9FM or WADO 1280.
Back in the Bronx for some interleague.
