The Yankees have been dominant at home since the middle of April, winning 13 of their last 14 series and splitting the exception to the rule. They’ve collected more home wins than anyone in the American League so far, and will look to lock down another today with the Rockies being the latest team caught in their sights.
Masahiro Tanaka gets the nod to start today, coming off of a solid performance against the Blue Jays on Sunday. Tanaka gave up a couple of long balls against Toronto, but limited the damage to solo shots and worked an efficient six innings on 79 pitches. Tanaka has gone at least six innings in 11 of his last 12 starts, with the outlier coming from the London Series.
Antonio Senzatela faces off against Tanaka for the Rockies, and he’s having a season to forget. His 1.647 WHIP is one of the worst in baseball, and he’s on pace to give up career-highs in home runs and BB/9 while picking up a career worst in SO/9. He’s gotten shelled for seven and eight runs in his last two starts against Arizona and Cincinnati respectively, so we’ll see how much the Yankees can push him for.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST. You can catch the action live on YES, mlb.tv, or fubo.tv, and you can listen to the broadcast on WFAN 660/101.9 FM or WADO 1280.
