The Yankees have fallen on hard times in the Windy City, dropping the first two games of a four-game set in both close and blowout fashions. The starting pitching has faltered at times, and hasn’t been great in either game against the White Sox, so now the bullpen will get a shot to save the day.
Chad Green will make his fifth start for the Bombers, coming off of his most successful run as an opener against Cleveland on June 9. Aaron Boone entrusted Green to go two full innings in that outing, and given the wear and tear on the pitching department a repeat performance would be especially valuable.
Reynaldo Lopez will go for the White Sox, and he broke a streak of three consecutive poor outings in his last start on Sunday against the Royals. Lopez struck out eight over six innings of work that afternoon, his only blemish coming on a solo home run. That said, Lopez still enters tonight with a 6.21 ERA and 5.87 FIP, so he’s been far more prone to getting roughed up.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 EST. You can watch the action live on YES locally, stream the game with MLB.tv or Fubo.tv, or listen to the broadcast with WFAN 660/101.9FM or WADO 1280.
Looking to bounce back.
