The Yankees clinched home field advantage in the Wild Card Game last night with their victory over the Red Sox, so now there’s nothing left to play for. Well, except for defeating their biggest rivals right before the postseason, winning 100 games for the first time since 2009, and oh yeah, the all-time regular season home run record. Those are some nice things to play for.
The Bombers will be short a slugger in their home run chase however, as Aaron Judge will not start in today’s game. Instead, Brett Gardner will get some playing time, and Andrew McCutchen will slide over to right field.
Domingo German will take the mound in the first inning, in a late decision over Lance Lynn. Lynn will likely see time out of the bullpen today, but it’s interesting to see them go back to the opener strategy with German. Opposing German will be our old friend Nathan Eovaldi, who has been sharp when going up against New York this season since his move to Boston.
The game will be broadcasted nationally on Fox, and streamed on the FOX Sports GO app. You can listen to the game on the radio on WFAN 660/101.9 FM, or on WADO 1280.
