The Yankees have beat up the Twins in what has been the most timely series of the season thus far. After struggling early on, this team is starting to pick up steam, and suddenly they sit 14-9 in second place behind Boston. If they can sweep the four-game series this afternoon, it would go a long way toward making up lost ground.
The Yankees will hope that Jordan Montgomery can keep it together for longer than five innings, otherwise we may see the debut of A.J. Cole. The team is sending out their best against Kyle Gibson, which just so happens to involve the stacking of right-handed hitters to face a right-handed pitcher. However, it likely won’t matter when Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius, and Gary Sanchez are hitting the ball like they are.

Hopefully guys like Tyler Austin, Miguel Andujar, and Gleyber Torres continue to hit the ball like they have been. Andujar in particularly has been on fire as of late. Though he’s slowly improved, hopefully this will be the game that gets Giancarlo Stanton going. As good as the lineup has been, though, the team does need to perform better in the field. They currently lead the league in errors, so a sound defensive game will put less stress on the offense and pitching.
First pitch for today’s game is scheduled for 1:05 PM on YES and WFAN. Out of state fans can also watch on MLBN.
