Major League Baseball has filed a petition against Michael Sitrick, Alex Rodriguez's former PR man in order to get him to hand over evidence concerning the appeal. MLB believes he has refused to turn over documents that mention the likes of Ryan Braun and Francisco Cervelli, which Rodriguez then allegedly used to leak their names to the media.
The petition claims that these documents are proof that A-Rod tried to obstruct MLB's investigation. It also says he released portions of the documents to out other players. Alex Rodriguez has obviously denied these accusations and his legal team has already claimed that the documents he bought were about MLB's investigation itself, not about Biogenesis.
This subpoena was issued to determine whether or not Sitrick had anything to do with the leak and if he is still holding onto evidence. He has been summoned to appear at MLB's headquarters on November 18, the day the appeal resumes, in order to hand over the documents. His lawyer states he intends to cooperate.
