FanGraphs | Eric Longenhagen: The Estevan Florial for Cody Morris deal wasn’t necessarily too flashy, but it does appear to have major league roster implications. Florial hardly got a chance in 2023. Once Trent Grisham was acquired, it became even more clear his future in the Bronx was over. The fact that the Yankees acquired a player who has a shot to contribute to the bullpen in 2024 is a solid plus. Morris has dealt with several injuries, but the potential is still there with his fastball, curveball, and cutter. Assuming health, Longenhagen sees potential in a multi-inning relief role, but injuries have been a tall barrier for Morris for years.

The Athletic ($) | Brendan Kuty and Chris Kirschner: To kick off the year, the Yankees’ beat is dreaming on all the biggest and brightest possibilities that 2024 can bring. Kirschner and Kuty are on the same page as the rest of us in dreaming of a world where the Yankees bring down Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers, but the most intriguing starts with them predicting a deal for Shane Bieber centered around Everson Pereira. CBS Sports | Dayn Perry: Everybody is lining up for predictions! This time it’s Perry predicting the unexpected that the Yankees will sign Blake Snell. Despite Snell’s recent performances and Cy Young awards in both leagues, he seems unpopular among fanbases. However, for the right price, he may very well be a difference maker for the club in need of top line pitching. Don’t get me wrong, the volatility of him and everyone else behind Gerrit Cole is not great, but if it’s a viable option then the team might be forced to consider it.
