All remains quiet on the eastern front. Hardly anything happened anywhere across MLB yesterday, to the point that the biggest move probably was the Cubs signing Colten Brewer. The right-hander’s contract gives us a chance to Remember a Guy; Brewer pitched 8.1 innings across three appearances for the Yankees last April, before eventually ending up in Japan with the Hanshin Tigers. He’ll forever be a part of Yankees lore, or at least, part of 2023 Yankees Sporcle quizzes.

This morning, Matt will continue our new Trade Partner History series, taking a look back at the history between the Yankees and the Braves. Also, Sam will take a moment to look back at a recent independent-league experience, while Malachi goes deep on Joe Gordon, one of the great underrated players in Yankees history.

Questions/Prompts:

1. The Yankees were one of several big-money disappointments in 2023 (think, Mets, Padres, Cardinals, White Sox). Will the Yankees win the most games in 2024 of those disappointments, or will another team bounce back and outstrip them?

2. Of the 2023 Yankees’ four high-profile injured starting pitchers (Cortes, Rodón, Severino, and Montas), which will have the best 2024 campaign?
