Baseball Prospectus | Jeffrey Paternostro, Jarrett Seidler, and BP Prospect Staff: After getting love from Baseball America earlier in the offseason, Baseball Prospectus has released their top 101 prospects and three Yankees have made the cut. Spencer Jones (#33), despite the up-and-down performance in his first full season, continues to rank the highest in the club. Jasson Domínguez (#39) is right behind Jones and Chase Hampton (#56) came in near the beginning of the back half. Also of note: December acquisition Jorbit Vivas is considered a candidate to crack the list next year and stealth rotation candidate Will Warren narrowly missed the mark this time around. | Bridget Hyland: There are several key free agents still available. Although the Yankees added a quality starter in Marcus Stroman, there is still room for improvement on the pitching staff. Josh Hader, who is seeking a record-breaking deal, could very well fall right into the Yankees’ laps if his list of suitors is limited. He would fit in very nicely at the back of the bullpen.

The Athletic ($) | Levi Weaver and Ken Rosenthal: With several options floating out there beyond just Hader, it seemed that the Yankees were firmly in the bidding for Cuban star, Yariel Rodríguez. However, Rosenthal has reported the Jays are now optimistic they will land the reliever. Rodríguez has gotten up to the upper-90s and flashed a plus-plus breaker while dealing in the NPB in recent seasons.
