The Soto deal remains the biggest move of the offseason so far, but Shohei-mania looms large.

Friday saw a wave of momentum in the Shohei Ohtani free agency spectacular: reports of an imminent decision, possibly coming by the end of the day, a flight reportedly with Ohtani on it heading to Toronto, some sources claiming that he had chosen the Blue Jays, sudden retractions as others claimed there was nothing official, then a confirmation that Ohtani was not on said flight and he was still mulling things over in California. Canadians nearly had a new national holiday to celebrate, but now once more the baseball world is waiting for the biggest free agent to make a decision.

Meanwhile, it’s a relatively quiet day here after the explosive coverage of the Soto deal. Estevão has a piece comparing the Alex Verdugo and Tyler O’Neill acquisitions by the Yankees and Red Sox respectively and what it says about each club going into next year, and Josh enters Hideki Matsui into the Top 100 rollcall.

1. Did you think Ohtani to the Jays was a lock yesterday, and do you think they’re the favorites still after the dust had settled?

2. What odds would you give Brian Cashman of pulling off the Sotomoto double-feature, and would you be fine with calling the offseason done if he does?
