Juan Soto wasn’t the only news of the week...but he was most of it.

It’s Sunday once again, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! As the days get shorter, the nights get longer, and the 2023 Yankees season shrinks further into the rearview mirror, but still we stand guard, following our favorite Yankees heroes — on social media, that is. It was a big week in Yankees Universe this week, filled with multiple hellos and goodbyes. Let’s get started!

Juan Soto is a Yankee

The biggest news of the week, of course, was the Yankees’ blockbuster trade, as they acquired Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres. As the news became official, the Yankees official Twitter account had some fun, parodying Jon Heyman’s infamous Arson Judge tweet that had occurred exactly one year prior to the Soto deal.

The new Yankees outfielder wasted no time in updating his own Instagram account to reflect his new team, complete with a photoshopped profile picture of him in pinstripes at the Stadium and a quartet of Highlights that spells out his name in a font that looks distinctly like those used on the Yankees jerseys.

Soon after, Derek Jeter took to his Instagram to remind everybody what he said during the 2023 All-Star Game festivities.

The Captain then told Soto “See you at Yankee Stadium.”

A Royal Farewell (and other goodbyes)

Of course, in order to get a player of Soto’s quality, you have to give something up. In this case, that meant Michael King, Kyle Higashioka, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and Drew Thorpe are now members of the Padres organization. King, Brito, and Vásquez each took to Instagram to say farewell to the Yankees organization and fans as they head out west on their new adventures.

Dellin’s Thoughts

Upon hearing that the team he spent most of his career with acquired one of the best players in baseball, Dellin Betances took to Twitter to voice his excitement — and then, in typical Yankees fan fashion, ask for more.

A Tanaka Ad

Speaking of former Yankees players, Masahiro Tanaka was spotted donning a Yankee hat while recording an advertisement this week.

Judge and Saquon

Aaron Judge and Giants running back Saquon Barkley met up and exchanged jerseys on Good Morning America this week. This prompted many Giants fans to wonder if the right center fielder can play tight end, as the Giants are in dire need of pass catchers if they want to have even a fool’s chance of saving their season.

Marinaccio’s Wedding

Congratulations to Ron Marinaccio, who got married this week!

Yet Another New Outfielder

Last, but not least, Aaron Judge announced on Instagram that the Yankees did not add three outfielders this week, but four. In addition to Soto, Trent Grisham, and Alex Verdugo, the Bombers also added...
