1996 is my favorite team

I was 7 and 8 years old in ‘77 and ‘78, and Graig Nettles to this day is probably my favorite player of all time, so it’d be easy to say one of those teams, but I was just a kid who really couldn’t appreciate what a losing team was like…1996 ended two decades of futility, and marked the return of the New York Yankees to the top of the baseball universe as Charlie Hayes secured Mark Lemke’s lazy pop fly in foul territory that tried in vain to land in the stands. I enjoyed the 98-00 dynasty, but there’s nothing quite like your first love.
