The Yankees lost a series to the ORIOLES!
I have to complain about it at least once, but I promise, I’m moving on. Onward and upward. and the Yankees welcome the Blue Jays for a four-game set this week, starting with a Labor Day matinee.
Jameson Taillon is in a rough patch, with four straight bad starts against the White Sox, Twins, Athletics and Angels headed into play, and in those last two starts, he’s allowed 11 runs in just 8.1 innings. He does seem fatigued, and given that he hasn’t thrown this many innings since 2018, that’s not surprising. With a taxed bullpen, Aaron Boone will have to manage relief work well.
Hyun Jin Ryu is his typically solid self, and the Jays are coming in hot. George Springer is back in the lineup, Marcus Semien is a real potential usurper to Vlad Guerrero Jr.’s MVP case, and overall, this is not the typical second-vs.-fourth place series. The Yankees are in tough today, but we’ve seen that when the lineup is clicking, they can handle anyone in the league.
