If you thought the Yankees had left their uber-frustrating ways in the past with their 13-game winning streak, you were sadly mistaken. A team that looked near unbeatable 10 days ago just dropped two in a row and a series at home to the 2021 Baltimore Orioles. There is nothing inherently disqualifying about losing a pair of one-run games to a terrible team; the Yankees still have the talent to win the World Series. That doesn’t make this past weekend any less exasperating.
There’s no time to dwell on the frustration, though, as the Yankees get right to a four-game set with the surging Blue Jays, starting with today’s holiday afternoon matchup. On the site, Matt previews the four-game set with Toronto, Jesse gives us a fun story on how poorly his in-person Yankees viewings have, Peter analyzes Joey Gallo’s pinstripe slump, and Ryan puts out the call for mailbag questions. Enjoy your Labor Day everyone!
