Yesterday’s game could not have been much more frustrating for the Yankees. They were no-hit deep into the game by the Orioles of all teams. They eventually broke it up and rallied to tie the game in the eighth, before an Aroldis Chapman implosion cost them another game.
So that means today’s game will be about trying to avoid a series loss at the hands of the Orioles. In order to do that, they will be sending out quite the strong lineup. The Yankees are using the “large human” alignment for the series finale, with Luke Voit at DH and Joey Gallo, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton manning the outfield.
On the mound for them will be Corey Kluber. In his return from the IL earlier this week, Kluber didn’t look great, imploding in the fifth inning. He won’t have Jonathan Loáisiga to back him up today, as the bullpen ace hit the IL this morning.
As for Baltimore, they’re giving the start to Keegan Akin. He’s gone back and forth between the rotation and bullpen for them this season, but hasn’t found a ton of success in either role, coming in with a 6.90 ERA. Akin has allowed just a pair of runs in 12 innings across his two most recent starts, however.
Go Yankees, go baseball.
