NJ Advance Media | Randy Miller: Luis Severino was finally activated from the injured list prior to Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers. As it turns out, there is more help for the Yankees’ pitching corps on the way: manager Aaron Boone said that the team expects to welcome back Domingo Germán by Tuesday or Wednesday.
“Domingo could be activated in the next day or two potentially,” Boone said. “He threw (two innings) in his (Triple-A rehab) game Saturday, so that might make him eligible (Tuesday). We’ll see.” Germán has been out since August 1 with right shoulder inflammation.
WFAN | Lou DiPietro: Whereas Severino is already a member of the active roster and Germán will likely follow today or tomorrow, the Yanks want Jameson Taillon to “move around with the idea he’d do a rehab game on Wednesday, possibly.”
That rehab start could come with Triple-A Scranton or Low-A Tampa, depending on what the team decides to do. Taillon, who was scheduled to throw a light side session on Monday, has been sidelined with a partially torn right ankle tendon since September 9.
MLB.com | Kennedi Landry: Outfielder Joey Gallo recalled the day on which he learned he was traded to the New York Yankees: July 29. The Texas Rangers, which had been his team for his entire career, decided to move on from him with an eye on the future, and it’s hard to blame them.
Gallo said that day “was emotional for sure,” and he was probably the last person to leave Globe Life Field in Texas. “It still is. I was making sure I had all my stuff and I cried a lot.”
Among other things, Gallo talked about what it’s like to play for the Yankees. “I enjoy playing here, but it’s a different market than Texas for sure,” he stated. “They want you to win, win, win. The pressures and the expectations are high, but it’s exciting... Nobody’s excited to get booed, but it’s part of this. In Texas, you aren’t getting booed like that. But when we’re winning games in New York, it’s amazing and there’s no better feeling.”
