It’s hard to say if the Yankees have exactly righted the ship, but they took care of business last night in an 8-0 win that pushed them back into a Wild Card spot. With another win today, they’ll keep the train rolling into the final two weeks of the season.
The shine has come off starter Luis Gil a little bit, after throwing up zeros in his first three starts, he’s allowed 8 runs, 8 walks and 8 hits in the 9.1 innings of his last two outings. He was roughed up Monday against the Twins, giving up four runs in the first inning, but managed to staunch the bleeding and still deliver six innings of work.
Aaron Civale counters for Cleveland, a groundball specialist who features three fastballs down in the zone. He doesn’t throw that hard, and if you can elevate, you can have success, but he’s not a rollover.
