The Yankees bounced back admirably from Thursday night’s nightmare. Blowing out Cleveland doesn’t erase the disgrace that was the finale in Baltimore, but it does at least wash the taste out of the mouth, and more importantly, push the Yankees back into a playoff spot. The Blue Jays lost to the Twins yesterday, allowing the Yankees to grab the second Wild Card spot again.
We’ve got a matinee today, one that features an interesting pitching matchup between Aaron Civale and Luis Gil. On the site, Josh discusses MLB’s Wild Card playoff structure, Peter analyzes some promising signs from Joey Gallo’s bat, Kevin ruminates on how the Yankees’ failures against the Orioles could be what costs them a playoff spot, and Andres profiles the twin breakouts of Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza.

Fun Questions:
1. What’s a scarier prospect in a potential Wild Card Game, dealing with a Chris Sale start, or with the Blue Jays’ lineup?
2. If the Yankees manage to make the playoffs after all these brutal defeats, will you credit them for resiliency? Refuse them credit for the fact that so many of those brutal setbacks were self-inflicted? A little of both?
