Last night, the Yankees had another frustrating loss in a season where they’ve piled up. Well, they won’t have much time to lick their wounds, as they’re back in action this afternoon in a makeup game against the Twins.
Back in August, the Yankees took three in a row over the Twins before the looming Hurricane Henri led to a postponement of the series finale. Now a couple weeks later, the two teams will meet to finish things up.
The most notable aspect about the Yankees’ lineup today is that Gleyber Torres is at second base today. It’s been no secret that he has not had a good season defensively at shortstop, and it appears like this is a thing they may do going forward.
On the mound today is Luis Gil, looking to bounce back from his first bad outing in the majors. He had real troubles with walks last time out against the Blue Jays, walking seven in 3.1 innings.
For the Twins, John Gant will get the start. He also started in the regularly scheduled Yankee Stadium series between these two teams back in August. The Yankees got him for four runs in 3.1 innings in a 7-5 win.
Go Yankees, go baseball.
