Can the Yankees turn it around in SoCal?

The Yankees have lost three games in a row, and while the Red Sox-Rays series guarantees that one of their playoff rivals will be guaranteed a win tonight, it’s imperative that New York gets out of this funk soon.

We’ll see whether Jameson Taillon is still in the downswing of his roller-coaster season, as his previous three starts have seen him post a 7.07 ERA and surrender 2.5 HR/9. The Angels offense has cooled off somewhat from its top-three pace earlier in the season, but the likes of Shohei Ohtani and Jared Walsh can still mash.

Speaking of Ohtani, he was supposed to be tonight’s starting pitcher, but after being hit on the wrist over the weekend, the decision was made to start Jaime Barria instead, who himself has been on a rough stretch. A 7.53 ERA in four August starts belies the potential for real fireworks from both lineups.
