Can the Yankees make it a baker’s dozen in Oakland?

The Yankees absolutely refuse to make games against anyone other than the hapless Twins easy. They had an early 6-0 lead in Oakland with the seemingly reliable Jameson Taillon on the bump, and they gave it all back in a hurry. Thankfully, New York is working with some pretty special magic right now. A late rally put them in front, and Aroldis Chapman managed to hang on, clinching the team’s 12th win in a row. It’s their longest such streak since 1961, which is pretty dang incredible. Here’s hoping that Gerrit Cole can push it to 13 tonight.

Today on the site, Jon will take a closer look at what Gio Urshela can do to make his return to the lineup count and Emma will discuss Yankees hitting coach Rachel Balkovec about her trailblazing role in the organization. Later on, Esteban will praise Wandy Peralta’s changeup-dominant ascent, Erin will pay tribute to Joey Gallo’s defense, and Ryan will answer your mailbag questions.
