Life’s easier when the Yankees are just winning ballgames. As has been frequently noted, they’re still not making all these games a walk in the park — even a 6-0 lead over the Twins in the sixth was followed by the tying run coming to bat just a few innings later. But hey, they left with the W and will now aim to stretch their winning streak to eight games tonight.

Today on the site, Matt will look back on the best “counterpunch” wins in Yankees history, John will do a deep dive on the Yankees’ many double plays in 2021, and Esteban will theorize why the Yankees have adopted sinker specialists. Later on, Peter will encourage the Yankees’ to deploy the ultimate “Death Star” lineup and Ryan will answer your mailbag questions.

Fun Questions:

1. How often do you want to see the Yankees running out an outfield of Gallo, Judge, and Stanton?

2. What did you think of “Luke Voit, leadoff hitter?” He’s occasionally done it before, but last night was the first time in quite awhile.
