August has been good to the Yankees so far. They completed a sweep of the Marlins, an impressive feat despite the poor record of the opponent due to New York’s recent inability to close out a sweep, and their new players are gelling. Anthony Rizzo is already entering the folklore for his clutch performance, and now we’ll get to see him and Joey Gallo don the pinstripes for the first time as they take on the lowly Orioles. This part of the schedule can be a major boost to their playoff hopes if they keep up their performance of late, but they can’t afford to waste a single game.
Today on the site, one of our newest writers will make his debut. Jesse dives into Giancarlo Stanton’s numbers post-All-Star break to see what’s going on, and how the Yankees can get their star slugger back on track. Peter will provide a series preview on the Orioles, and also dive into Andrew Heaney’s underlying stats to see what the Yankees got out of their deal with the Angels. Kevin highlights a pair of Yankees that will be crucial to the Yankees’ playoff hopes, and I’ll open the mailbag up for another round of questions.
