Here’s how the Yankees will line up their schedule next Februrary.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Yankees and the 29 other MLB teams all announced their 2022 spring training schedule. Given that the team is in the middle of an excited race for a playoff spot, it’s completely understandable to not care one bit about this news, but hey, some folks are already looking ahead to 2022 travel plans. Plus, spring training is delightful! It’s rare to have the opportunity to sit so close to Major Leaguers at a better cost in Tampa than Yankee Stadium.

As it currently stands — and assuming that there isn’t a CBA dispute between the owners and players, which is clear as mud at the moment — the first day of spring training will actually be a split-squad doubleheader against the Phillies and Orioles on Saturday, February 26th. The Yankees will host the Phils in Tampa while the rest of the team travels to Sarasota.

Other spring opponents include the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Rays, Twins, Tigers, Braves, Nationals, Cardinals, and Pirates. There will be off-days on Tuesday, March 8th, and Wednesday, March 23rd. The final exhibition of the spring will be with Detroit on Sunday, March 27th on the road in Lakeland. As a reminder, Opening Day is a showdown with the Rangers on Thursday, March 31st at Globe Life Field. The home opener in the Bronx is Thursday, April 7th against the Red Sox.
