At last, an off-day. The Yankees will wish they could’ve rolled into this needed respite with a win in the Field of Dreams game rather than with another gut-wrenching loss. On the whole, they come to the end of this 17-games-in-17-days stretch in reasonable shape, even with the bitter taste of last night still fresh. The team has taken on water in terms of injuries and infections, but they’re just two games out of a playoff spot, and should be getting some players back in the coming days. With luck, they’ll get healthier quick and start a new winning streak.
With no game today, we’ve got a packed lineup on the site to keep you occupied. Estevão will give us an interesting story on draft pick compensation, and the wild transaction trees the Yankees have been a part of because of the system. Peter breaks down Albert Abreu’s recent success, Jon reminds of us some unheralded switch-hitters, Kevin explains the Yankees’ inability to hit in the first inning of games this season, and last but not least, Ryan delivers some mailbag answers.

Fun Questions:
1. Of this weekend’s starters, who’s more likely to keep up their run of form, Jameson Taillon, or Nestor Cortes?
2. Will Andrew Heaney make another start for the Yankees?
