Today on Pinstripe Alley - 7/8/21

The Yankees wrap up their three-game set in Seattle with a day game before heading to Houston.

MLB: New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners Stephen Brashear-USA TODAY Sports

Well, that was an odd night. Domingo Germán was scratched with an emergency root canal, Nick Nelson did, well, Nick Nelson things and didn’t survive the first, Germán pitched anyway and gave up a big three-run homer, and the Yankees won anyway. Kudos to Luis Cessa, Jonathan Loaisiga, and Chad Green for doing the heavy lifting. The Yankees can actually sweep a series tonight. Would be nice, right?

Today on the site, Jon will recall how Aaron Judge’s arm impacted one particular sequence in a recent Subway Series game, and Josh will preview the Rangers as a potential trade partner. Later on, Josh will return to discuss a recent interview by the Yankees’ head of analytics (assistant GM Michael Fishman), and Andrés will review how the Yankees’ 2020 draft picks have fared thus far in their first professional seasons.
