Well, it’s been quite a wild last 48 hours. So wild, that it’s a little easier to forget that the last time we saw the Yankees on the field, they last 14-0.
While we already knew that Joey Gallo and Joely Rodríguez were coming to the Yankees, the team didn’t stop there. Yesterday saw the Yankees add another big name in Anthony Rizzo before wrapping things up by getting pitcher Andrew Heaney today. As a result, the Yankees lineup looks a lot different. Gallo went right into the two slot, while Rizzo is hitting fourth. We can’t have entirely nice things, however, as DJ LeMahieu and Gio Urshela are both out and are day-to-day.
Also of note is Giancarlo Stanton, who will indeed be playing left field with the game in an NL park.
On the mound for the Yankees will be Jameson Taillon, who is looking to continue his solid recent run. In 25.1 innings over his last four starts, Taillon has a 1.42 ERA and is holding hitters to a .557 OPS. He will also in the batting order at ninth for this interleague game.
For the Marlins, they’ll send Zach Thompson to the hill in his eighth career start. He’s been pretty successful in his young career so far, putting up a 2.45 ERA in 33 innings. Two Marlins will be making their MLB debuts tonight as Bryan De La Cruz and Brian Miller will play the corner outfield spots and hit seventh and eighth.
Whatever happens tonight, it should be interesting. Go Yankees, go baseball.
