What a strange several hours it was for the Yankees on Tuesday night. Their superstar outfielder and backup catcher returned, two youngsters were sent back to the minors, the pitching prize of the deadline shot them down, the team managed to withstand Rays rallies enough to squeak out a 4-3 win, and then celebrated by salary dumping a pair of relievers with a possible future move on the horizon. Happy trails I suppose to Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson.
Today on the site, Andres will praise Jameson Taillon’s impressive season rebound, John — who had to pick up the pieces of his sadly-discarded Kendall Graveman pitch — will present a more splashy alternative in Javier Báez, and Dan will discuss the Yankees’ packed group of middle-infield prospects in the low minors.
