The Yankees win, celebrate Aaron Judge’s return, and make a surprising late-night trade.

What a strange several hours it was for the Yankees on Tuesday night. Their superstar outfielder and backup catcher returned, two youngsters were sent back to the minors, the pitching prize of the deadline shot them down, the team managed to withstand Rays rallies enough to squeak out a 4-3 win, and then celebrated by salary dumping a pair of relievers with a possible future move on the horizon. Happy trails I suppose to Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson.

Today on the site, Andres will praise Jameson Taillon’s impressive season rebound, John — who had to pick up the pieces of his sadly-discarded Kendall Graveman pitch — will present a more splashy alternative in Javier Báez, and Dan will discuss the Yankees’ packed group of middle-infield prospects in the low minors.

Today’s Matchup:

New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays

Time: 7:10 p.m. EST

TV: YES Network, Bally Sports Sun, ESPN

Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280

Venue: Tropicana Field

Fun Questions:

1. Do you approve of the Luis Cessa & Justin Wilson trade? Or would any approval only be contingent on the next move?

2. Where do you think Max Scherzer ends up after the trade deadline passes?
