Today on Pinstripe Alley - 7/2/21

The Subway Series begins with both teams not exactly playing their best.

Wednesday night was enough of a disaster in the Bronx that I don’t think a single soul shed a tear when the Yankees announced that their Thursday matinee against the Angels was postponed due to rain. It would’ve been a hot mess anyway, so might as well let the weather provide a palate cleanser ahead of the Subway Series. The Yankees are fortunate enough to miss Jacob deGrom this time around, but if we know anything about the 2021 Yankees, it is that they will not make anything easy for themselves anyway. (And the Mets are leading the NL East for a reason.)

Today on the site, Matt will preview the Subway Series and Cooper will preview those aforementioned Angels as a possible trade partner. Later on, Erica will explore another possible reason for the many struggles of Gleyber Torres, and Ryan will answer your mailbag questions.

Today’s Matchup

New York Yankees vs. New York Mets

Time: 7:05 p.m. EST

TV: WPIX, SNY, MLB Network (out-of-network)

Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280

Venue: Yankee Stadium

Fun Questions:

1. Should any Yankees* aside from Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole make the American League All-Star team?

*Judge was voted in yesterday and Cole seems to be a lock for the pitching staff.

2. Do you think the Mets will ultimately win the NL East? Or will one of their division rivals catch them?
