Ask Pinstripe Alley: Yankees mailbag questions request

Kick off the second half with some Yankees questions for the mailbag.

Ask Pinstripe Alley

The mailbag is back after taking the All-Star break off — sadly, there was no category for fanmail bloggers so we did not get to participate in the game, but the week off was appreciated — and there’s plenty to dig into right off the bat. The Yankees finally managed to get back at the Red Sox, not only winning a game but winning a series (we’ll ignore that it was supposed to be a four-game set) and continue to position themselves right on the cusp of the playoff race. The time to decide on reinforcements is here, and the next two weeks will be heavily focused on what moves the team can make.

There’s a lot to process with the roster as is — some players have been in a funk all year, some are injured for too significant a time period, while others have struggled but might finally be turning a corner. Has Gleyber Torres found his bat at last, or will reinforcements up the middle still be necessary to contend? What outfielder(s) could be the most realistic to acquire? Can a playoff-caliber pitcher be found? If you’ve got questions like these, or any other concerns, send them in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.

Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of July 22nd will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
