Well, uh, that was not how I expected the second half of the 2021 season to begin. Instead of a Yankees/Red Sox matchup, we got a COVID-19 outbreak that now involves Aaron Judge, Gio Urshela, Kyle Higashioka, Jonathan Loaisiga, Nestor Cortes Jr., and Wandy Peralta. Will the Yankees play tonight? How many more Yankees will be affected? Which players will even be around to participate?
Your guess is as good as mine! Pardon my French, but what a shitshow. We’ll keep you posted.
Today on the site in non-COVID news, Matt will look back on the greatest ninth-inning comeback in Yankees history, Dan will discuss how the Yankees’ draft picks fit in their minor league system, and Erica will conduct a very serious investigation on why Rougned Odor loves to participate in mound visits.
Today’s Matchup (if it’s still on)
New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
Time: 7:05 p.m. EST
TV: YES, NESN, MLB Network (out-of-market only)
Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280
Venue: Yankee Stadium
Fun Questions:
1. Would you have wanted the Yankees to be in on a possible Joc Pederson trade? (The Cubs dealt him to the Braves last night.)
2. Do you think the Yankees will actually add an outfielder at the trade deadline or stick with the status quo?
