It’s never fun to lose to your archrival, but it’s even worse when your archrival is throwing players you discarded back in your face en route to victory. Oh well. I’ve been grumpy after the Yankees suffered losses in the opening salvos of the past couple series, so maybe they’ll assuage my skepticism again. The pitching matchup doesn’t favor them today though, as Jordan Montgomery squares off with Nathan Eovaldi. We’ll see what happens.
Today on the site, Kevin will look back on some excellent first halves by Yankees pitchers in the 2010s that did not earn All-Star honors but are worth remembering, and Josh will research how the Yankees’ spin rates and spin-to-velo rates have changed since MLB announced the new foreign substances guidelines. Later, Andres will discuss the Yankees’ most likely trade chips, and Matt will write about the five best players in the history of the Yankees’ Negro League counterparts: the New York Black Yankees.
