Pinstripe Alley Podcast Ep. 132: The Triple Secret Weapon

The Yankees turn multiple triple plays, Gary Sánchez catches fire, and win a couple series! Promising.

MLB: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays
The Coolest Yankee

The Yankees beat our lowly expectations from last week and actually took care of business quite handily against the Blue Jays and A’s! They swept their division rival in Buffalo (a house of horrors in 2020), and then took two out of three at home from the AL West leaders. Sure, they were aided along the way by the hot bat of Gary Sánchez, but they also had a secret weapon: the ol’ triple play.

Andrew and Kunj have plenty to discuss from those positive topics alone, plus an update on the now-established “Sticky Stuff” guidelines for pitchers(and why they might be a scare tactic), happy thoughts on come-from-behind wins, Sánchez catching Gerrit Cole, and Luke Voit’s imminent return. Don’t worry though, there is still room for venting, particularly at the perhaps-inevitable “Luis Severino is our trade acquisition” quotes.

Our “Meet a Baby Bomber” segment profiles the red-hot Hoy Jun Park and former-relief-prospect-turned-Scranton-veteran Nick Goody. As always, we wrap up with the Yankee and Mitre of the Week.

As a minor programming note, we’ll both be out of town at different times next week, so there will be no show, but look for us again in early July!

You can listen to the show on the web player below, or on any of your preferred podcast apps — to name a few, we’re on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, PlayerFM, and iHeartRadio. As a reminder, if you were already subscribed to former host Ryan Chichester’s “Bomber Brothers” feed, then you’re good!
