The Yankees return to action to face the Royals in the Bronx.

Kansas City Royals v. New York Yankees

These Monday off-days have been a real trend of 2021, and I can’t say that I hate it. It’s nice to have a breather from the everyday results, especially when we can savor a nice series like the Yankees just had against Oakland. (Of course, that also sort of makes the previous weekends’ sweeps even tougher to swallow, but I digress.) And if you prefer all baseball, all the time? Then don’t worry, the Yankees will play next Monday.

On the site today, Kunj and I will have the latest edition of the PSA Podcast and Dan will provide the weekly minor league roundup post. Later, Peter will preview the upcoming series against the Royals, Josh will discuss Luke Voit’s long-awaited return (or re-return, I suppose), and Jon will profile perhaps the best Yankees icon not enshrined in the Hall of Fame: Thurman Munson.

Today’s Matchup

New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals

Time: 7:05 p.m. EST

TV: YES, Bally Sports Kansas City

Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280

Venue: Yankee Stadium

Fun Questions:

1. If the 2015 Yankees had made it past the Astros to play the Royals in the Division Series, do you think they could have advanced? Or were those Royals too good?

2. This is a question that has probably been asked before, but since Jon’s writing about it today, if you could pick one former Yankee to automatically be inducted into the Hall of Fame, who would it be?
