After a rough loss yesterday, the Yankees will look to even the series with the Athletics in a Saturday afternoon showdown in the Bronx. Gary Sánchez will be back in the lineup after a night game off, and the club will be hoping for a bounce-back start from the man on the mound.
I seem to recap every Domingo Germán start. Life got too busy for me to maintain my famous PSA Recapper Race tracker, but if it were still up, I’m sure I’d be tagged with the most Germán starts on the staff. He’ll bring his 3.88 ERA to bear in his 13th start of the season, having a rough June where he’s logged a 6.60 ERA this month.
Chris Bassitt will counter for Oakland, who is also having a rough June. After a 2.52 ERA May, that number’s climbed to 4.32 this month, with a FIP a half run worse than that. Both starters have seen their effectiveness drop as the temperature’s climbed, and reversing that trend could be a big part of a win for their club.
