These recent woes for the Yankees began after they swept a team, so perhaps they will end after another sweep? It’s hopeful thinking, but a couple of wins after the last few weeks can have that kind of effect. Anyway, the Yanks have the opportunity to close out their road trip with a surprising sweep of the Blue Jays. The two wins they already have in the bag were narrow and nail-biting, so it’s not like the team is triumphantly roaring back, but they need any wins they can get so I won’t complain.
Speaking of roaring back, today we’re feeling a little reminiscent on the site. We’ve got two articles featuring a look back at struggling teams that bounced back to strong performances and postseason runs — John will look at the modern example of the 2019 Nationals and any comparisons this club has to them, while Cooper went contemporary with a glance at the Yankees’ own 1977 and 2007 teams. Alongside them are Andrés with an update on Gerrit Cole’s Cy Young candidacy and competition, and Erica with a story on the memorable moments that occurred when Yankees fans grabbed milestone home runs.
