Two in a row in Buffalo would be a fun show.

I’ll admit that when I saw the Yankees were facing Blue Jays ace Hyun Jin Ryu in Buffalo last night, I wasn’t terribly optimistic that they could get the job done. I did have a weird hope that maybe Jordan Montgomery would come up with a great outing and the team would win by a 4-1 score though. Well, the script didn’t exactly follow that dream, but it ended in an elusive Buffalo victory regardless. I’ll take it. Now how about getting to two in a row tonight with Gerrit Cole on the mound?

Today on the site, Jon will look back at the underrated dominance of the 1939 Yankees, and Dan will discuss the upcoming start of the Gulf Coast League and Dominican Summer League seasons, peaking ahead at the young prospects who should highlight the Yankees’ clubs (hello, Jasson Dominguez). Later, Cooper will explore the Yankees’ options for improving their playoff odds, and Josh will review the Yankees’ offseason pitching gambles and assess the damage.

Fun Questions:

1. If you were to give away the ball from your first MLB home run, who would you give it to? (Chris Gittens has a worthy recipient of his in mind.)

2. How will the Cy Young contender (Gerrit Cole) fare against the MVP contender (Vladimir Guerrero Jr.) tonight?
