I’m not a fan of any region or team, I am just a fan of whoever is playing the best baseball in the world. And right now, that just happens to be Giancarlo Stanton. The prolific slugger has continued his terrorizing of baseballs since sliding up into the second slot in the lineup, raking another three hits against the Astros en route to a 6-3 win. The sweep — and a 6-0 start to this homestand — is up for grabs today with Gerrit Cole on the mound. Things can turn around in a hurry, apparently.
While the rest of the league does their homework in an attempt to make Stanton mortal again, feel free to check out some of the writing available today. I’ll start off with a recap of the minor leagues from yesterday, highlighted by an absurd comeback by the Tampa Tarpons. Andrés highlights the disparity of production that the Yankees have witnessed at first base without Luke Voit in anticipation of his return, while John looks back at the most recent stretches of Yankees raking hits like Stanton has been. Later on, Jon will review “The Captain and Me,” and provide an interview with the book’s author, Ron Blomberg. Finally, Peter will preview the Nationals ahead of their arrival in the Bronx tomorrow.

1. How long can Stanton keep this hitting streak going?
