Few things bring a smile to my face more than seeing that the Yankees beat the Astros. The fans really gave it to Jose Altuve and company, which was a hoot. Thanks to Giancarlo Stanton and the bullpen, the Bombers took care of business last night, and they’ll look to Jordan Montgomery to help them capture their fifth win in a row this evening.
Today on the site, the Baby Bomber Recap makes its triumphant return after being absent since September 2019. (It’s good to have the minor leagues back!) Afterward, Tom will explain why Brett Gardner has to step it up as an outfield reserve sooner rather than later, and Josh will talk about how a trio of strikeout artists on the Yankees exemplify how pitching has become too powerful for modern baseball. Later on, Jon will take a look at how Gleyber Torres has improved his defense at shortstop since his disastrous opening salvo.
