Pinstripe Alley Podcast Ep. 125: Giancarlo the Two-Hole Terror

New, comments

Backed by their big boy sluggers and dominant pitching, the Yankees are back to .500. Hurrah!

MLB: New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

After an up-and-down series split in Baltimore, the Yankees came home to the Bronx and took care of business over the weekend against the Tigers. They swept perhaps the worst team in baseball out of town and returned to .500 for the first time since April 12th.

This all means that we got to have a mostly positive podcast! Isn’t that nice? Giancarlo Stanton has been excelling since being installed as the No. 2 hitter, and Aaron Judge has picked up the pace right behind him, too. We talked about them, the Yankees’ rest schedules, touch on the Mike Tauchman/Wandy Peralta trade, and then raved about the outstanding recent efforts of Gerrit Cole, Corey Kluber, and the pitching staff, which posted the best ERA and WHIP in the American League for the month of April. Just as we all expected, right?

We also introduced a new weekly segment: “Meet a Baby Bomber,” a Yankees-focused riff on the “Meet a Major Leaguer” feature from “Effectively Wild.” This will be an effort to get to know more prospects and minor leaguers in the Yankees’ system a little more than we already do — this week’s selections were No. 4 prospect Oswald Peraza and the other Justin Wilson (a righty reliever). Don’t worry though, the “Yankee and Mitre of the Week” segment isn’t going anywhere. There were some worthy picks.

You can listen to the show on the web player below, or on any of your preferred podcast apps — to name a few, we’re on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, PlayerFM, and iHeartRadio. As a reminder, if you were already subscribed to former host Ryan Chichester’s “Bomber Brothers” feed, then you’re good!
